Session Description:
Societal platforms as envisaged by India-based organization that bears that name, are a shared infrastructure that creates opportunities for everyone in society to take part in social innovation, thus accelerating the achievement of development results. They are underpinned by three operating principles:
1. Scale what works is different from taking what at works at scale
2. Distribute solutions is different from distributing the ability to solve
3. Controlled design is different from extensive co-creations
So far, Societal Platform have applied their approach to wicked problems such as citizens services- entitlements and accountability, healthcare, waste management, education, water security etc. In the current crisis, their approach takes a new significance since arguably a shared infrastructure that allows for learning and decentralizing action at scale is what is urgently needed for COVID response.
Can societal platforms innovate governance and enable the formation of movements that enable efficient and effective city operations, better decision making, and contact-less urban service delivery? And how can societal platforms be leveraged for the fight against COVID?
Join the sessions with the Digital Innovation Duo- Sanjay Purohit- Chief Curator, Societal Platform of Ekstep Foundation and Viraj Tyagi- CEO of EGovernments Foundation to discuss, as Aafreen Siddiqui from the RIC team guides the discussion.
